All classes are overseen by Chief Grand Master Rico Guy and taught by his highly trained black belts. He is founder and head of the U.S. Budo Kai-Kan celebrating its 30th anniversary. Mr. Guy is ranked as follows: Iaido (samurai sword) 9th degree; Kendo (stickfighting) 8th degree; Goju-Ryu Karate 10th degree; and Go Kempo-Jitsu he is founder and 10th degree.
This is the U.S. Budo Kai-Kan. The operative word is Budo; the way of martial discipline. Through the practice of Budo, one may develop oneself mentally, physically and otherwise. A daily involvement with the acquisition and application of combat technique tends to create unity of mind and body, heightening awareness of oneself and one's environment, thus increasing sensitivity to other people.
These are the primary elements of self-defense. The practical and philosophical ramifications of Budo are broad and deep, and they are accessible to all people.
Iaido, Kendo, GoJu-Ryu Karate (adults and kids) and Go Kempo-Jitsu
are the artforms that are taught..
